Creating a Friendly Work Environment

Making your company a great place to work will help you attract – and keep – great people who have opted to rent a work area, facilities, tools and/or equipment from you.

Creating an amiable atmosphere within the work environment involves more than just submitting a great listing.

Working in a place where everyone feels welcome – creates a friendly work environment where everyone can thrive, here are some tips to help you.

Respect, first and foremost

The easiest thing for you to create a friendly work environment is promote respect between everyone who works there.  There can be different personalities, some of which will clash with others. The occasional conflict is bound to come up, but what helps you avoid letting those differences become toxic is by showing respect for everyone. Value different opinions without dismissing them outright. If you start to think negative thoughts about people in the work area, or allow negativity to grow, then each interaction will first have to overcome that negativity and that can be difficult. Respect the people in your work environment and help them to respect each other.

Listen

Along the same lines of respect, open communication leads to a happier work environment. We don’t need to once again state the great importance of communication within the workplace (even though it really can’t be overstated). When they bring up an issue, a question, or an idea, you owe it to them to listen. You might not agree with them, but understand their position, discuss it with them and leave them feeling like they were heard.

Set the Right Atmosphere

Leading by example goes a long way in promoting a friendly environment. If you aren’t friendly, you can’t necessarily expect that everyone else will be. Encourages everyone to mirror their great behaviors. If you’re open and conscientious, you’ll set the tone for perfect work place interactions. Things always get stressful from time to time in the workplace, and everyone will feel that stress much more if they feel as though you’re projecting it onto them. Remember to keep things lighthearted.

Make Sure Your Workplace Promotes Social Interaction

Sometimes your work area can prevent everyone from bonding with each other. If your work space doesn’t have any teamwork areas or meeting places, nobody will ever have a chance to get to know each other. They encourage interaction and inspire friendly conversations to help everyone to connect.

More than anything else, the best way to create a friendly work environment is by asking and listening.  Empower everyone to make the workplace better.
